Sometimes in
life, we all become unsatisfied. It’s hard living the same life for so much
time with almost no fame, wealth or any other pleasure. There are some low
moments when we commence hating our own life, remaining continuously
unsatisfied with the resources that we have. We are so much sulked at our
disappointments that the world seems almost useless and futile. Sometimes we
get disturbed for our profession, we become angry over the fact that we can’t
dance or sing like one of our friends who is extremely good at it and in during
these things we indeed snub off our own qualities. We become unsatisfied about
our health and various other things can sneak into this list.
Such things
continue in life for a long time. These moments are going to haunt us great
many times and whenever we are stuck in between these things life seems
completely in vain. A dilemma shrouds us and we are completely caged up in its
veil. But let me tell you one thing, why don’t you realize the fact that your
friend who can sing and dance extremely well can’t do the things you are
extremely good at? Why don’t you realize that fact that people having wealth
and prosperity might be so much devoid of inner peace that money won’t be
fulfilling their need to be happy and cheerful?
See, life is
pretty unfair and nobody has been there who has ever got everything. You can’t
be good at all the things in this one simple life.
One of my
favorite aphorisms is from Salvador Dali,
“Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach
it.”
I am sorry to say this, but this is how life
works. How can you expect to be exceptional at hundreds of activities in such a
small life? There are people out there who have dedicated their whole life in
becoming good singers, dancers, writers etc., how can you even think of doing
so many things all of a sudden in such brevity of life? Hence, don’t feel bad
that you are not a prodigy at everything and choose one thing at which you are
really good at and then become famous for it. It’s better to be a master of one
trade than being a jack of all. What if you become “good” at dancing,
singing, writing, speaking; but you don’t become “great” at anything? If
you are only good, you are not cut out to be one of a kind, because in the
population of seven billion, there are billion who are just good and that’s why
you don’t even know their name.
Talking about
satisfaction, let me tell you one thing; you are never going to be satisfied.
If you are really into something, trying to do something unprecedented and far
above banality, let me tell you, you won’t be satisfied until and unless you
reach your goal. Indeed, you are still alive in the game just because you have
a fire of dissatisfaction burning inside you. It’s better not be satisfied than
to be indifferent. Hence stay hungry till you achieve what you want to achieve.
But one crucial thing is that you must learn to wait. You can’t expect to
become the biggest star with just one rendition. You have to wait for years to
become something truly great. Give you best, work hard every day and be
unsatisfied but learn to wait. This wait is going to be like an ordeal but go
through this because Rome was not built in a day.
