Lets revise the chapter named "INDIA"

India is everything that a democratic nation aspires for. A multi-party election system where people can opt out different parties, people believing in democracy, good people participation in election and other procedures, a legitimate government and also the title of world's largest democracy. But still a question baffles me. Despite of having so much attributes why are we still lagging behind and being called a DEVELOPING COUNTRY and not a developed one and paradoxically a country like China where no such rights are granted to people is moving ahead of us day by day.

I believe that in India we are granted all the rights, we deserve, from right to live to right to food, information and education and that's a commendable thing. But think! Will these right mean anything to us if the inflation surges to record breaking height, if wages reach the nadir and economic growth dismay the whole nation, giving everyone a trepidation? These things would matter least if our farmers die because of bankruptcy, if poor continue to slide down the poverty line and the rich continue to become richer.

India's slow growth and almost stagnant economic growth is something which needs to be discussed and taken properly or we can't even imagine the consequences that will ensue due to our uninterested
and indifferent behaviour.

Lets first move on to corruption. Corruption is really a very loathsome malaise and nuisance that the whole nation is facing today. This problem has been hindering our progress for the last 66 years and no one has been able to eradicate it. Some who promised ended up to become a symbol of corruption.
According to a survey put up by Transparency International(TI) in 2013, India ranked 94th out of 177 countries surveyed. You might think that India would be better than authoritarian countries like China but almost unexpectedly China has ranked 80th in the Transparency International Corruption Index. China has not shown a good report but is much better than India in terms of corruption. India has moved ahead of China in doing to corruption and this definitely is something to be embarrassed of.

But one is same in both the nations. Denizens of both the nation complain of corruption very much. This is due to untamed bureaucracy and because of concentration of power in the hands of some top people  in the public sphere. According to The Economist, the 50 richest members of China's National People's Congress worth $94.7 billion, which is 60 times as much as the 50 richest members of the US Congress. India also displays some interest facts about corruption. In India, a clerk at Road Transport Office, Madhya Pradesh was caught with assets worth Rs. 7 Crore.

In terms of growth we are very much behind China. It's a hard nut to crack but we have to concede the fact. According to world bank, in the year 2012 the Gross Domestic Product of China was 8.227 Trillion USD while that of India was 1.842 trillion USD. By this we can easily conclude that China is definitely much ahead of us. There is such a huge difference between the GDPs of both that nation that the figures are a shameful thing for every Indian. And who doesn't know about China's fastest bullet train, world class infrastructure projects and well maintained army.

But in the above section we came to know that India and China are facing the same problems. Indians and Chinese are very much upset and vexed at corruption. Both are annoyed at the concentration of power in the hands of some top class people. So, why we saw such a huge difference in the GDPs of both the countries.

Here is the answer.

There is another one area after economy where China carries the day. In its 2014 ranking of Ease of Doing business the World Bank places India at a lowly 134th down and China ranks impressively at 16th place. Herein might hide the Chinese way to success and move ahead of India despite of having the same problems. Despite of being an authoritarian communist government, China has been excessively supporting the public sector firms and thereby helping it growth soar to a very high.

This is the point where India just moves out of the competition. Its a real  fact that we all need to examine in order to bring about a radical change in our pace of moving ahead. Its something hard to swallow that the country which nowadays is the most popular one among the foreign investors is not willing to support the businesses. The new government which is going to come to the center this time definitely needs to check this problem or it will also fall into the ditch of notoriety just like the contemporary one. India from now again needs to start the endeavor to get to the top and as there is a serious dearth of time now, we have to move a velocity faster than ever.

Today India has assets but India is not wanting to use them. First problem that India faces today is that India's trade barriers and red tapes. The most important thing to do now is to tame the bureaucrats and officials at grass root level who extort a large amount of money from the poor and middle class people. If we are ready to control the grass root level offices then we would clinch away a huge victory.

he other thing is we need to help our small scale industries. Our jute and cotton industries today need a lot of help today. In the 50s India and China both started with the almost same number of cotton producing units but today China leads as the world's biggest Cotton producer around the world.

The second thing is using the IT resource of India. India has a very huge legion of IT professionals who are not being taken into use for the welfare of people. Cities like Bangalore are filled with talented professionals but we definitely need to use them to get the best results. India can use its IT resources in order to make Indian offices complete digital offices. If we reduce the paperwork and turn those paperwork into digital work then, that would lead to expedition of the processes like transfer of files from one place to another, which is menace at the grassroot level and can lead to security of huge amount of confidential and vital reports.

Same thing applies for doctors and judges.

Today India needs more and more hospitals and in this area it definitely needs to allow foreign investment to a large amount and the money generated could be used to open new hospitals and equipping them with the best facilities and amenities.

Our judicial system is also a very big menace for all of us. A small case of pickpocketing needs 10 years to be settled and the convicted has to be in jail amid huge tormentation for 10 years just for pickpocketing a sum of Rs. 50 i.e. less than even one dollar. An innocent man has to be in jail for eights years on the allegations of being a terrorist and at last it is found out that the person is completely innocuous. The mental and physical tormentation inflicted on this man and his family is something to be decried to a very great extent while on the other hand politician and corrupt officials who are embroiled in a crime have so many cases of corruption against them but the order to send them to jails comes after 40-50 years. If such things continue then we could hardly progress.

The other thing is our police system. Police is there for our protection but today people fear the police officials. Most of the police officials are corrupt. But why? They are because they themselves don't get fund from the government. They have to take a dead body to hospital, run the police station, arrange for petrol for police cars on themselves and government doesn't give them anything.

If such things continue then the rights given to people are just a wastage of time. Rights matter a lot but them matter a lot more when people are given actual power with the rights. Today we need to identify the real potential of our country and then move ahead and revise the whole chapter again. The chapter named INDIA needs to be written in golden words once again and today we need a change. Let us not hope for that, let's work for one.

Jai Hind, Jai Bharat
Jai Ma Bharti
