Can you transform a society completely torn up for 60 years,
maligned with malpractices and lack of dedicated and abled leaders in one go?
From all but God, the answer would be negative and that’s what’s happening with
the current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Narendra Modi, the current
Prime Minister of India was elected truly on the basis of dreams,
anti-incumbency and his own charisma.
The whole nation had suffered and tolerated very much till
the elections of 2014 and when the UPA government transcended all the limits in
order to check the endurance of the denizens of the country, intelligent
citizens showed them the exit. Anti-incumbency factor truly owed too much to
the victory of Narendra Modi. Revelations of corruption from grass-root to the
highest level, merciless crimes against women, endangering the security of
women around the nation, rife policy paralysis and many other circumstances
summed up to one of the most unexpected defeat of the Indian National Congress
plunging the country’s grand old party to its nadir and making its leader as
well as scion cry out in vain.
Apart from the anti-incumbency factor which worked out truly
for the benefit of Bhartiya Janata Party, Narendra Modi’s own charisma added up
to intensify the campaign run by Mr. Modi in order to vanish out the Congress
Party from nation’s voting tally. His oratory along with his track-record of
paradigm development in his state of Gujarat during his Chief Ministry’s tenure
paved the way for the son of Gujarat to come up and sit on the zenith of
nation’s power, the 7 Race Course Road.
Now comes the third and the most crucial reason behind the
success of BJP in the general elections of 2014. The paramount reason which
became the basis of the victory of Narendra Modi was “Dreams”. In this world
everyone has a right to dream, the dream of succeed, the dream to move ahead,
the dream to scramble up. The heights of our dreams calculate the distance
which we will travel towards the success. Even one of the current bestselling
authors in the world, Paulo Coelho remarks, “You should never tell a child that
dreams are fake, it would be a tragedy if they knew.” A Japanese adage also
asserts, “Vision without action is a day dream and action without vision is a
nightmare.” Indian people also dreamt very much out of the elections of 2014.
This election was a ray of hope which gave people a path to move on, a path to
have electricity in their house 24x7, a path to have complete all time pure
water supply, a path to live in a country with controlled inflation, a path to
reside in a country with 100% literacy and full employment, and this finally
made up to the victory of Narendra Modi by such a humongous majority that today
other parties can’t even seek to be elected as the leader of opposition in the
Lok Sabha.
As soon as Narendra Modi was elected the Prime Minister of
the nation, these dreams started to brew up but now with exaggerated strength.
People now thought that “acche din”
will come in two- three days, but logically and reasonably that’s not possible
at all. Critics started decrying Narendra Modi from even day one. Congress
party on the next day of election said that Modi should not invite Pakistani
Prime Minister to the swearing in ceremony basing their arguments on the ground
that Pakistan has always been indulged in conducting terror programs on its own
soil against the secularism and integrity of India but they themselves forgot
that they did nothing when Pakistani soldiers decapitated our valiant soldiers.
As soon as Mr. Modi became the Prime Minister of the nation, condemnation
started flowing from all the sides and now the opposition parties are trying to
make up an anti-Modi mood in the whole nation, rebuking Modi for false promises
made during the time of elections in order to sway the people of the nation to
cast their ballot in the favour of Mr. Modi, but I believe that what these
opposition parties are voicing art is truly flabbergasting.
How can they ever ask someone to mend a nation in not less
than 30 days? But unfortunately I can never expect anything from such people
who are filled head to toe with the cupidity to hold the power. But I can
expect something from the people of the nation? I would ask them to show
sincerity and patience. They are also very much aware that Mr. Modi is not
having a magic wand which he will swing through to devastate all the problems
of such a great nation which has suffered for the last 60 years. No matter how
good and tough a leader is, he still needs time in order to address the woes of
the nation.
Take the recent hike in the railway fares. Critics will make
fun of Mr. Modi by blurting out that Mr. Modi has been incompetent in his 30
days in office and has been unable to curb inflation and therefore make the
railway fares soar up. But I believe that they don’t know about two things.
The first being that the order to hike the railway fares was
rolled out by Mallikarjun Kharge, the then Railway Minister on the 16 May, one
of the most crucial days in the 2014 elections. So how can Congress blame Mr.
Modi for rising the railway fares.
The second thing is that these people might not be knowing
the current situation of Indian railways. Today world’s large recruiter is
facing so many big problems. Trains available with the department are of very
bad and disgusting quality, no sanitation is maintained on the railway station,
no management is there in order to check the number of passengers travelling,
railways line are also in pitiful condition, and now the whole railway needs an
overhaul which is next to impossible without having funds. Railway fares have
not been hiked by the previous government just in order to entice people to
vote for it but now if the nation really wants progress in the amenities being
made available to people, then a complete change is needed in the system of all
these institutions and this is quite impossible if there is no money in the
pocket of such organization. Hence tough decisions need to be taken in order to
revamp the current lagging system of nation. And to fulfil the requirement,
something needs to be done.
Other problems also like unemployment, illiteracy, lack of
amenities such as electricity and water
supplies, that have thrived in the nation for around last 60 years
cannot be annihilated in just one attempt or I should say one attempt. Today
nation needs tough and long term policies rather than false happiness to
satiate the desire for “Acche Din”. Hence I ask the whole nation to please give
Mr Modi some time in order to help the nation out of its problems. 5 years are
there and we should wait for Mr Modi to make good policies and if Mr. Modi
doesn’t do anything in the upcoming 5 years then the nation would itself follow
its course.
